WHOO-FRICKIN'-HOO!!!

This is a red-letter day.   I am pleased to announce that 16 months, 2 weeks and 4 days after purchasing my "crappy little house,"  the work has finally started on the renovation.  I was working out this morning at 5 Star Health and Fitness.  I work out at this location every day that I am in Nelson County except Sundays when 5 Star Health and Fitness is not open.   I love working out there so much that I bought the crappy little house across the road from there.   From the treadmill I can see a part of my house.  And this morning while I was "treading" I saw the white truck parked in the driveway.   EUREKA!!!  Could this be the start of something big????  It could be.   I mean I finally signed a contract and wrote a great big check for the down payment.  So wouldn't it be reasonable to expect that the work should start at some point?  Dare I get excited?

After my workout I drove across the street to check it out.  And sure enough, there were three guys hard at work on demolition.  Now you may recall that I did a fair amount of demolition myself last spring, helped significantly by George, my trainer at 5 Star Health and Fitness.   But this is capital D Demolition now.   They had gotten the flooring up to the subfloor throughout the house.  The three guys were great.  Friendly, knowledgeable, and hard working.  They are also the framers, so I feel this phase of the house is in very good hands.

Other progress that has been made is that the kitchen design is pretty much locked in.   The doors and windows are ordered.  The exterior colors are picked.  I will do my best to include pictures whenever possible.  Take a long last look at my crappy little house as it is today because by tomorrow it will begin to look very different!

Now for Whoo-frickin'-hoo #2!!   (Say that 10 times really fast).   I'm at Dave's having just attended a choir rehearsal.   It's our first of three rehearsals for a pretty big event.    We're singing back-up to Andrea Bocelli (The World's Most Beloved Tenor according to his PR) at his concert at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC on Dec. 2!!!!   Whooofrickinhooo indeed!   Tickets start at over $100 bucks for the nosebleed section in this huge venue.   Tickets down front are a whopping $1500 for anyone who would like to come to support me!   We're singing mostly opera music with a Christmas carol or two thrown in for good measure.  Oh yes. . . and Funiculi, Funicula at the end.  What a hoot.   Worth the drive.   Stay tuned for that as well!

Life is good here in Virginia!
